About us

Overview:

Career Source is a non-profit comprehensive career center with offices in Cambridge and Everett. We are part of the One-Stop Career Center System in Massachusetts, the first One-Stop Career Center in the country. Our center offers employment and training services to both job-seekers and employers. Job-seeker services include job-search counseling and workshops, eligibility assessment for career training, job matching, and access to our Career Library. Services to employers include candidate referrals, recruitment events, and outplacement. Last year Career Source served over 9000 people and more than 400 employers. Funding for Career Source is based on a competitive model. Since our inception in 1996, we have consistently exceeded our placement goals by 50% or more. Ninety-eight percent of Career Source’s clients have rated our services as good or excellent.

Career Source is operated by Employment Resources Inc. (ERI), a private, entrepreneurial, non-profit entity established in 1983 by the City of Cambridge. It was originally the Service Delivery Agency for Metro North Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) Service Delivery System. ERI’s mission is to provide workforce development services to individuals so they can realize their full economic and social potential, and to strengthen and assist community partners who share their goal.

Staff:

The staff at Career Source provides a variety of services, including: career counseling, job placement, referral to training, a career and internship program for youth, job search assistance for veterans and individuals with disabilities, stress management counseling, and information on unemployment benefits.

As head of ERI since 1997, Tom is responsible for overseeing all departments and creating the vision for ERI. His professional background includes CEO of a community-based behavioral health organization, director for a special education consortium, and school principal. Educational degrees include a master's degree from Emerson College and a bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire at Keene.

Richard has led the Everett location of Career Source since 2003. Previous to this position, he was a career counselor at Career Source in Cambridge. Before joining Career Source, he worked as a project coordinator, community organizer, counselor and teacher in South America and the U.S. Richard holds a master's degree in management and a bachelor's degree in philosophy.

As MIS Director since 2005, William is responsible for overseeing all information technology utilization of the Career Source Centers in Cambridge and Everett. His background includes over 10 years experience in IT support for various technical, for-profit and non-profit organizations. Prior to joining Career Source, William worked as a Field Engineer/Consultant for Darwin Partners, Senior Application Support Specialist for NECX Inc, and Technical Support Specialist at Fidelity Investments’ FMRCo Systems. Educational degrees include a Master’s Certificate from Clark University CCI and a Bachelor of Science from the University of New Hampshire at Durham.
