A Few Job Search Tips:

  • Research organizations before you apply, and personalize your cover letters to communicate as specifically as possible how your skills and experience can benefit that particular organization. This will give you a competitive edge!

  • Especially in a tight job market, employers most value CONCRETE SKILLS THAT FIT THEIR NEEDS and A POSITIVE ATTITUDE.

  • Market yourself as expert in 3 or 4 areas that utilize your strongest skills.

  • Think of your professional self as a valuable resource to an employer.
What makes you unique (professionally speaking, of course)?
Consider how your talents and experience can help an employer "ease
  their pain."
  • Apply for positions that are a good fit with your qualifications - it is NOT an effective job search strategy to just send out resumes for any positions that catch your eye and hope you hit the jackpot.
